In a remarkable move expressing appreciation and gratitude, the Libyan Tribes Union valued Algeria’s position on the Libyan crisis on Wednesday.
This came in a statement issued by the union, in which it expressed its support for the statements of Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf on the situation in Libya.
In a press conference held in the Algerian capital with the head of the UN mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury, who is visiting Algeria to discuss the Libyan crisis, Attaf called on all parties to lift their hands from the Libyan issue.
Attaf stressed Algeria’s position calling for the necessity of enabling Libyans to decide their fate themselves away from foreign interference.
The Libyan Tribes Union expressed its pride and appreciation for the statements of the Algerian Foreign Minister and praised Algeria’s fraternal and positive position towards Libya and its people.
The union paid tribute to Algeria, the government and people, for their supportive positions towards Libya, stressing the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.
Libya has been suffering from an ongoing political and security crisis since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011, and the situation has been exacerbated by foreign interventions and competition between armed factions.
