Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh called for a move away from the security-centric approach in dealing between Europe and Africa, emphasizing the existence of approaches that can address important issues such as migration, political stability, and security on the continent.
Dbeibeh’s said during his speech at Italy-Africa summit held in Rome. In his speech, Dbeibeh stated that the time has come for a qualitative leap and recognition of African countries as genuine partners in international development. He stressed the need to move towards a developmental approach aimed at enhancing relations with African countries to create a new reality.
Dbeibeh added that Africans represent 18% of the world’s population and will constitute 25% by the year 2050, with African youth making up 60% of the continent’s population. He warned that African citizens would be forced to leave their countries if decent living conditions are not available.
