Libyan presidential candidate Fadil Al-Amin warned of the serious repercussions facing Libya, stressing that ignoring these economic, political and military crises will only exacerbate them.
Al-Amin pointed out in a post on his page on the social networking site “X” that the recent developments in the Azawad region and the military build-up near Ghadames, in addition to the accumulation of weapons between various parties, threaten to erupt into internal and international conflicts.
Al-Amin stressed that economic and financial institutions in Libya are suffering from an accelerating collapse as a result of corruption and mismanagement, the decline in the value of the Libyan dinar and the printing of counterfeit currency and explained that the spread of bribery and corruption has created a social state based on greed and fear.
In the context of his speech, Al-Amin told a metaphorical story of a man who weakens his horse by reducing its food in greed for money, and the horse ends up dying of hunger, and he used this story to warn that looting and corruption can lead Libya to destruction.
The Secretary General called for the need to protect Libya’s resources and invest them properly to build a sustainable economy, noting that the solution lies in building institutions and ending division in order to unify the state and achieve a better future for the Libyan people. The Secretary General concluded his message by calling on Libyans to shoulder their responsibilities towards their country and the future of their children and grandchildren, warning of the increasing risks that threaten the stability of Libya and its institutions.
