The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, expressed his strong condemnation of the request of the interim “National Unity” government for Egyptian intelligence officials to leave Libyan territory, describing the request as “irresponsible.”
The government’s request came after the Egyptian Prime Minister, Mustafa Madbouly, received the head of the Libyan government assigned by the parliament, Osama Hamad, and his accompanying delegation in Cairo, where the Dbeibeh government denounced the reception, considering it contradicts the international position rejecting division and conflict in Libya.
In this context, the Libyan Foreign Ministry issued a statement via the X platform, confirming its rejection of recognizing what it described as “parallel bodies” and adding that these steps contradict the expected role of Egypt in supporting the stability and unity of Libya.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness, noting that these principles are the basis for building sustainable and effective diplomatic relations between countries.
