Libya has witnessed new military movements by the Libyan Arab Armed Forces towards the southwest of the country in a move aimed at combating illegal activities such as arms trafficking, oil smuggling and drug trafficking across the border.

Parliamentarian Abdel Moneim Hassan stated that this move comes to limit the chaos prevailing in the southern border areas, where illegal operations are common. Hassan explained that the declaration of a state of alert by the forces in the west reflects their benefit from these activities.

The parliamentarian pointed out that the movement of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces seeks to end the chaos across the border areas, ruling out at the same time any direct military clash between Haftar’s forces and the forces stationed in Tripoli.

In conjunction with these movements, Libyan citizens monitored the movement of military convoys belonging to the Libyan Arab Armed Forces from the Tamanhint base towards the city of Ghadames, near the border triangle with Tunisia and Algeria.

The Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, led by Saddam Haftar, announced the transfer of military units to various cities and regions in the southwest.
