The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Omran Al-Qaib, received at his office in the ministry’s office in Tripoli on Wednesday, Russian Ambassador to Libya Haidar Aganin, and the two sides discussed cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Facebook account of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Government of National Unity, the Russian side submitted a draft agreement for cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries, which included the exchange of visits of officials, experts, scientists and graduate students and the mutual participation of scientists and researchers in the activities of conferences, seminars, and research meetings.

During the meeting, they also discussed the opportunity to use and exchange documents, publications and information related to the higher education system, qualify specialists, and conduct scientific research, in addition to exchanging scholarships, exchanging students, graduate students and university professors, and encouraging the study of language, culture, history and literature for students of both sides in educational and research institutions.

The Russian proposal included reformulating the draft agreement signed in 1975, which included an executive program for cultural cooperation between the two countries, in addition to facilitating the admission procedures, entry visa and residence procedures necessary for Libyan students whom the ministry intends to send for postgraduate studies in Russian universities in the field of ophthalmology.
