The Minister of Economy in the Libyan Government of National Unity, Mohammed al-Hawij, said that about 40% of Libyans are below the poverty line.
In press statements, Al-Hawij called on the Central Bank to fix the exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar, accusing the Central Bank of opening credits for goods that are not of priority, pointing out that traders will sell goods at cost in Ramadan, explaining that fuel subsidies put pressure on hard currency. The foreign exchange quarantine system faces problems, and the central bank must solve them, al-Huwaij said.
