The Minister of Interior of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Imad Trabelsi, said that we are ready to form a joint force with the General Command of the Armed Forces to secure the southern border.
Trabelsi added during the session organized by the Libyan Interior on the ministry’s vision to enhance the security and management of integrated borders to reduce illegal immigration under the slogan “optimal solutions for border management for a better future”, as for the western region, there is cooperation with the Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army Mohamed Al-Haddad.
“We are ready to form this force, headed by anyone who puts forward his name from any region in Libya within two or three months, consisting of a thousand motor vehicles and five thousand policemen from the east, south and west,” Trabelsi said.
Trabelsi continued: “The police and security men are on the heart of one man, and if we agree, we are sure that securing our country’s borders will not exceed 90 days.”
The session discussed the issue of Libyan border security, combating transnational organized crime, reviewing the Ministry of Interior’s plan to secure borders, activating the work of watchtowers, and combating smuggling and human trafficking networks.
