A delegation from the Egyptian Engineering Export Council visited the State of Libya to discuss a number of files related to facilitating trade cooperation and integration between businessmen of the two countries in various fields.
The delegation, headed by Mai Helmy, Executive Director of the Council, included a number of Egyptian businessmen and representatives of 15 Egyptian companies in the sectors of household appliances, tableware, kitchen, electrical appliances, auto parts, agricultural machinery, and electrical industries such as cables and generators.
The Egyptian delegation was received by the President of the Libyan General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Mohamed Al-Raed, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Trade for Libyan Economic Affairs Saad Al-Hanish, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Libya Ambassador Mustafa Tamer, the President of the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce Anwar Abu Sitta, and a large number of heads of Libyan companies and institutions.
Helmy said: “The visit aims to hold meetings between the Egyptian delegation and a number of members and leaders of the Libyan chambers of commerce and representatives of a number of economic institutions in various Libyan cities, and this visit is the first of its kind in more than ten years, as it is taking place under the direct auspices of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Libya.”
Helmy continued: “The atmosphere of the meetings is very positive from both sides, and there are understandings in the files of trade and investment cooperation between Egyptian companies and their Libyan counterparts in sectors under the umbrella of the Export Council for Engineering Industries.”
Helmy stressed that the Libyan market is one of the most important target markets for the engineering industries sector because it is a large market and absorbs Egyptian products, and there is an agreement to export more Egyptian engineering production to the Libyan market during the coming period, and that this visit is just the beginning of a more comprehensive and larger cooperation.
