The Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army in the western region decided to continue coordination with the notables and elders of the city of Ghadames, with the aim of achieving safety and stability in the region in preparation for the reopening of the “Dabdab Ghadames” border crossing with Algeria.
According to Libyan military sources, the measure comes as part of the country’s efforts to boost trade with Algeria and combat illegal immigration on the border between the two countries.
The Libyan source confirmed that the visit of the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, General Mohamed Al-Haddad, to the city of Ghadames dealt with ways to address military tensions within the city, with a focus on forming a permanent liaison committee between the Chief of Staff of the Western Region and the residents of Ghadames.
In a related context, the Chairman of the Board of the High National Elections Commission Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed on Wednesday with the US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, ways to support national proposals and endeavors to achieve the success of the expected elections.
