Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade Mohammed Al-Huwaij discussed with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Libya Martin Longden, in a meeting, ways to develop trade and investment relations between the private sectors in both countries.

The Libyan Ministry of Economy said on its Facebook page that the meeting reviewed the file of British companies operating in Libya and addressed their legal and financial conditions.

Al-Huwaij stressed that the ministry is following up on the file of British companies, and referred their financial situation to the Council of Ministers of the Libyan Government of National Unity and the relevant authorities so that they can resume their work on contracted projects in all regions.

Al-Huwaij stressed that the United Kingdom is one of the most important trading partners of the State of Libya and expressed the desire of the Libyan government to strengthen relations with the British government at all levels.

For his part, the British ambassador expressed his country’s desire to strengthen trade and investment relations with Libya, and the keenness of British companies to resume their work on contracted projects.

Al-Hawij asked the Libyan Department of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation to coordinate with the Commercial Office at the British Embassy on activating the Libyan-British follow-up committee and arranging official visits with the participation of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the Business Owners Council.
