The Chief of Staff of the Land Forces of the General Command explained that the military movements in the southern regions of Libya come in implementation of the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
This step comes within the framework of a comprehensive plan aimed at securing the southern borders, enhancing national security, and intensifying control over the border strip with neighboring countries.
The Chief of Staff confirmed that the movements include the areas of Sabha, Ubari, Brak al-Shati, Ghat, Qatrun, and Idri, stressing that these areas are witnessing stability and security thanks to the presence of the armed forces in them.
The aim of these movements, according to the statement, is to confront any potential threats that may target the safety and stability of the country, especially in light of the prevailing tensions in neighboring countries, which may contribute to the growth of drug trafficking and the spread of gangs.
The Chief of Staff confirmed that these movements are not directed against any party, but rather aim primarily to enhance security in the border areas.
Regarding the criticism and negative statements issued about these movements, the Chief of Staff considered them attempts at political and financial blackmail, stressing that their main goal is to establish security and stability, and support the process of construction and development in the country.
The Chief of Staff reassured citizens that these movements seek to pave the way for holding legitimate elections, which is a common goal for all Libyans.
