Today, Major General Mohamed Abubaker Lakri, Chief of Staff of the Border Guards of the Interim Government of National Unity, met with Jan Vesetal, Head of the European Border Assistance Mission in Libya, to discuss ways to enhance border security in the west of the country.
The meeting, which was held today, Monday, covered key topics related to enhancing the capabilities of the Border Guards, including providing specialized training for new cadets and providing advice to improve border security management.
Both sides expressed their appreciation for the long-standing cooperation between the Border Assistance Mission in Libya and the Libyan Border Guards.
The statement issued by the mission explained that the ongoing cooperation has contributed significantly to enhancing the capabilities of the Libyan Border Guards, through improving the training facilities of the Ministry of Defense and organizing advanced training courses in the areas of leadership and management.
This step comes within the framework of efforts to support security stability and enhance the effectiveness of Border Guard operations in the region, reflecting the commitment of the parties to develop capabilities and enhance international cooperation.
