Libya was elected as an original member of the Board of Directors of the International Labor Organization, representing the African continent for the period from 2024 to 2027, which is a new achievement that strengthens its presence on the international scene.

This achievement came within the work of the meetings of the International Labor Conference in its 112th session, which was held in Geneva, where voting was held electronically to select members, and Libya obtained 195 votes.

The Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation of the outgoing Government of National Unity said on Facebook: “This nomination is a great success that reflects the efforts made to strengthen Libya’s role in international organizations.”

Members of the participating Libyan delegation expressed their happiness and pride in this achievement, thanking His Excellency the Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Engineer Ali Al-Abed, for his unlimited support and tireless efforts to achieve this goal.

Libya’s membership in the Board of Directors of the International Labor Organization provides a greater opportunity to contribute to the formulation of international policies related to labor and workers.

This membership enhances cooperation with other countries in this field, and the Libyan delegation seeks to exploit this opportunity to achieve more successes and achievements in the future, according to the ministry’s statement.

Libya was represented at the conference by a delegation from the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation of the outgoing Government of National Unity, and participated in several committees emanating from the conference, including the Committee on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Committee for Setting Standards on Biological Risks, the Committee for Implementing Standards, and the Finance and Decent Work Committee.
