The Criminal Investigation Department of the Benghazi Security Directorate carried out a successful operation that resulted in the arrest of two people who committed an armed robbery at a furniture store in the Salmani area.
The operation came within the framework of the directives of Benghazi’s security chief, Major General Ahmed al-Shamekh, to tackle all forms of crime.
According to the statement issued by the Criminal Investigation Department, information was received about black individuals committing an armed robbery of a furniture store, where criminal investigation patrols were deployed in the area and neighboring areas.
Intensive efforts were able to arrest the perpetrators in the area of the municipal hotel, where they were found in possession of a firearm and a number of bullets, along with drug use tools, and the defendants turned out to be Libyan.
The two defendants admitted to carrying out the robbery with a firearm, stealing mobile phones, and revealing the presence of a third individual who was carrying a firearm, who is still on the run, and searches are still underway to arrest him.
One of the stolen phones was recovered after being sold in the Ras Ebaida area, and all necessary legal measures were taken against the defendants, who were referred to the Public Prosecution.
