The Libyan Public Prosecution announced the arrest of two Tunisians in the western border area of the country, where they were caught with weapons and bombs in their possession.

The statement issued by the Public Prosecution in Libya explained that the Stability Support Agency in Nalut received information indicating the activity of the two suspects in the border area.

One of the suspects voluntarily surrendered himself to the authorities and revealed details of his activity and that of his companion. Based on the information he provided, the forces, with the assistance of the Deterrence Agency to Combat Terrorism and Organized Crime, were able to locate the second suspect.

During the raid on the second suspect’s headquarters, the suspect attempted to resist the forces by throwing a hand grenade, which led to his death. The site was secured and carefully examined, and the body of the deceased was examined, while an investigation was opened into the incident and the charges against the other suspect.

It is noteworthy that between 2011 and 2016, countries in the region confiscated more than 1,100 weapons and 330,000 rounds of ammunition, most of which are believed to have come from weapons depots in Libya.
