The Libyan Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the thwarting of an assassination attempt targeting Abdel Majeed Maligta, advisor to the head of the outgoing unity government, Abdel Hamid Al-Dbeibeh , by detonating a car bomb.

Investigators inspected the bombing site and collected evidence, while the Information and Communications Control Department of the Public Prosecutor’s Office analyzed the information that revealed the movements of the suspects before and after the crime was carried out.

Investigations revealed the involvement of two members of the National Security Department of the Libyan Intelligence Service in this operation.

The forces of the Deterrence Service for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime succeeded in arresting the main suspects, and efforts continue to pursue the other involved persons outside the country in cooperation with international bodies.
