The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock in the Libyan government, Younes Bou Hassan, announced that the ministry intends as part of its plans for the current year, to establish a national project to grow wheat with an area of 100,000 hectares, and as a first step will plant about 18,000 hectares of wheat.

“The project will be divided into the southern region, the central region, the Benghazi plain, the southern Green Mountain and Al-Batnan, in order to ensure food security,” the minister said, calling for the necessary support to ensure its success

Bou Hassan pointed out that the ministry has also developed a plan to plant about 200,000 trees in coordination with the Blessed Tree Voluntary Association, starting January 15th.

The minister stressed that the ministry is seeking, in coordination with Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad, to provide vaccines for the treatment of nodular skin disease and Rift Valley Fever, in coordination with the Steering Committee for Animal Health at the Libyan ministry.
