Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is discussing with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan several files, foremost of which is the Libyan crisis and developments in the Gaza Strip.

The Italian government announced that Meloni’s visit is also aimed at underscoring the strategic nature of the partnership at the bilateral level, within NATO and at the level of the Mediterranean basin.

At the heart of the discussions, the topic of strengthening bilateral economic relations revolves around organizing the next meeting of the Joint Economic and Trade Committee as well as securing the way towards strengthening cooperation in the field of migration, the same sources added.

She said that it is natural that the file of scenarios of the current crises is pivotal, namely the war in the Gaza Strip and the war in Ukraine.

The sources pointed out that Meloni and Erdogan will also discuss relations between the European Union and Turkey in the political, economic and trade fields.
