The Director General of the Development and Reconstruction Fund for Libya, appointed by the House of Representatives, Belkacem Khalifa Haftar, signed work contracts with Turkish companies, with the aim of implementing a number of projects in the city of Benghazi.

The Reconstruction and Stability Committee, which was assigned by the House of Representatives, announced on its Facebook page that Belkacem signed with major Turkish companies specialized in the field of general contracting, equipment, and infrastructure, in order to start their work for several projects in the city of Benghazi.

The committee said that these projects include the maintenance and completion of the central library of the University of Benghazi, the maintenance and development of sewage treatment plants, and the maintenance and cleaning of Lake 23 July to achieve one of the sustainable development goals in the city of Benghazi and ensure clean beaches free of pollutants.

The committee pointed out that these projects will pass before the actual start of work for the study and design phase, to ensure their sustainability and effectiveness in the service of the Libyan citizen in the city of Benghazi.

This announcement comes in the context of ongoing reconstruction and development efforts in the affected areas in Libya, where Haftar has signed contracts with Turkish and Emirati companies over the past months to implement reconstruction projects, especially in the areas affected by floods in Derna and Jabal Akhdar, in addition to Benghazi and Ajdabiya.
