A baby girl was kidnapped by a domestic worker in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, as the worker took advantage of her presence alone with the baby, so she carried out the kidnapping and left the house towards the city of Sabha, where she was arrested.
According to reports, the worker intended to smuggle the baby out of the country to sell her.
A security official in Major General Tariq’s operations in the south said that the operation to arrest the worker came after notifying the operations team of the incident and circulating the picture of the worker and the infant to all checkpoints and indicated that the baby is in good health.
The Libyan public demanded that the worker be held accountable, then deported out of the country and prevented from entering again, while others denounced how she arrived in the city of Sabha from Tripoli, wondering about the role of the security gates that did not realize the issue.
