Libya ranked last in the ranking of the safest Arab countries for women, according to the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security’s Women, Peace, and Security Index.
According to this index, Libya ranked 122nd globally out of 177 countries ranked in the report issued for the year 2023-2024.
The classification was based on the registration of 13 indicators related to the status of women, which were divided into three main dimensions: inclusion, justice, and security.
This classification reflects the challenges facing women in Libya in multiple areas and indicates the need to strengthen efforts to improve the situation of women and promote their rights and empowerment in the country, whether at the level of social and economic inclusion or justice and personal security.
