Libya on Thursday called on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to immediately and unconditionally stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza and the West Bank.
Libya’s representative before the International Court of Justice, Ahmed Al-Jehani, stressed “the right of the Palestinian people to resist,” considering “the six-decade occupation a flagrant violation of humanitarian obligations in accordance with United Nations laws and international norms.”
Al-Jehani explained that “the articles of international humanitarian law that stipulate the protection of civilians apply to the deliberations in court,” noting that: “The crimes of occupation amount to crimes of genocide.”
Al-Juhani asked all countries not to “support the occupation and oblige it not to displace Palestinians,” calling on the United Nations to “consider any additional measures to end the occupation without procrastination or procrastination.”
“The occupying power has deprived Palestinians of their right to self-determination, is trying to eliminate that right, and has escalated its practices that prevented the establishment of a Palestinian state,” al-Jahani said.
Al-Juhani continued: “The Israeli occupation continues its measures aimed at annexing Jerusalem and continues its system of apartheid against Arabs and depriving them of the most basic rights.”
