The Italian news agency “Nova” revealed that Libya’s annual production of natural gas has declined to between 10 and 13 billion cubic meters, compared to the previous rate of 15 billion cubic meters.

These data are based on reports by the Libyan National Oil Corporation, which show that gas production currently ranges between 30 and 35 million cubic meters per day, of which 24 million cubic meters are allocated to operate power plants.

In a related context, the Libyan Oil Corporation announced that the total domestic consumption of natural gas amounted to about one billion and 56 million cubic feet during the past 24 hours, including 838 million cubic feet for the General Electricity Company, and 104 million cubic feet for the corporation.

The volume of consumption of the iron and steel complex and other small factories for gas was about 84 million cubic feet, while cement factories consumed about 30 million cubic feet.

The decline in natural gas production is due to self-sufficiency caused by increased domestic sales and consumption.
