The African continent witnessed one of the greatest events in the history of boxing, as the Libyan city of Benghazi hosted the largest post-war festival, “INTERNACIONALFESTSPORT 2024.”
The festival hosted three fights on Friday, dubbed the “Night of Legends”.
Participants competed at the Suleiman Al-Darrat Hall in Benghazi, which had more than 5,000 attendees, to win the World Boxing Association (WBA) title in Africa.
The first middleweight fight took place between the French-Moroccan, Khalil El Hadari, who achieved during his professional career 17 victories, including 9 by knockout against suffering two defeats, and his Tanzanian rival Oscar Richard Doug, to end with the victory of El Hadary.

In the third and most important fight, the Libyan champion, Saad Al-Falah, was crowned the World Boxing Association “WBA” title in the light heavyweight at the level of Africa, after defeating his Ivorian rival Adama Koné by withdrawal.
Saad Al Falah’s match was important for all Libyans, as he represented the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, which for the first time in the history of the African continent obtained the continental belt.
These fierce fights were attended by the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Khalifa Haftar, and the world boxing legend and guest of honor of Libya, American Mike Tyson.
According to the rules, the boxers were supposed to hold 10 fierce rounds, but in the fifth round, Adama Koné withdrew due to a joint injury, and the Libyan champion was declared the winner.
For Libya, it was a national holiday celebrated all night, and for Africa, it was a huge challenge and an invitation for the whole world to know that Libya is capable of organizing international sporting events and presenting them at the highest modern levels.
