The Libyan capital Tripoli will witness tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6, decisive elections to choose a new president of the Libyan State Council and members of the Executive Office.
According to sources within the State Council, the most prominent candidates for the presidency of the council are Khaled Ammar Al-Mishri, Mohamed Takala, and Adel Kermos.
A group of prominent figures are also competing for the position of first deputy, including Abkada Mohamed, Masoud Obaid, Abdul Muttalib Bakkas, Shukri Al-Amin, and Naji Mukhtar, while the race for the position of second deputy includes Khaled Al-Nazuri, Omar Khaled Al-Obeidi, and Musa Faraj.
It is worth noting that some Western countries are making efforts to encourage women to apply to assume the presidency of the council, as Naima Al-Hami, a member of the Services Committee of the Supreme Council of State, discussed the mechanism of the council’s work, and the opportunities available to women to run for and win in the periodic elections for the presidency of the council, during her meeting with Marie Favrial, political advisor at the French embassy.
