The Department for Combating Illegal Migration in Libya announced the deportation of 30 Nigerian migrants from the city of Benghazi.
The agency said in a statement published on its official “Facebook” page that the deportation process was carried out in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.
The operation followed the deportation of 26 Egyptian migrants through the Mosaed land crossing to Egypt on Monday.
In January, the agency’s Benghazi branch announced the arrest of 1,507 illegal immigrants as part of their ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration.
On the other hand, an Italian security report revealed that 157,551 illegal migrants arrived in Italy via the Mediterranean Sea during 2023.
Tunisia topped the list of countries from which migrants flow to the Italian coast during the same year with 97,667 migrants, followed by Libya with 51,986 migrants and Turkey with 7,153 migrants.
