The Tariq bin Ziyad Brigade, affiliated with the General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces, announced the death of an officer and 5 soldiers during military exercises in the Libyan city of Sirte.
The general said in a statement on Sunday that his members died while performing their military duty in the city of Sirte, without providing any details about the incident.
However, sources from Sirte said that six members of the Fifth Battalion of the Tariq bin Ziyad al-Mu’azzaz brigade died after drowning in the sea off the coast of Sirte while participating in a military exercise.
The brigade’s Facebook page published the names of the victims, namely officer Ibrahim Juma al-Sukni, and soldiers: Adam Youssef Baraka al-Sayed, Ibrahim Muhammad Ramadan, Abdul Aziz Nasser Mohamed, Juma al-Fitouri Muhammad, and al-Mabrouk Muammar al-Dali Saad.
