The outgoing Government of National Unity, headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, said that the parliament’s decision to end its term represents a political opinion and will not change the reality, stressing that it will continue its duties until the general elections are held.
A statement by the Government of National Unity yesterday, Tuesday, explained that its legitimacy is derived from the political agreement, and it is committed to implementing its outcomes, which stipulate that the government will continue to carry out its duties until the legislative and presidential elections are held and the transitional phase that the country has been experiencing for a long-time ends.
The government considered the parliament’s decision to withdraw confidence “repetitive in form, content and means”, and aims to install a parallel government that has no tangible influence and reflects the efforts of a “political faction” to extend its term.
