The Crisis and Emergency Committee discussed in a meeting of the Libyan municipality of Zliten the environmental and health situation in the city in conjunction with the rise in the groundwater level, while the possibility of establishing a field hospital was discussed.

The meeting discussed the mechanism for monitoring and collecting data, identifying the needs of health centers, and how to allocate and choose a suitable place for a field hospital in Zliten among a number of proposed places. The meeting also discussed the reality and ways to develop emergency medicine in the municipality, according to a statement issued by the municipality.

For weeks, the city of Zliten has been “swimming” over a sea of polluted water, forcing residents to leave their homes and flee to other cities, amid fears of the collapse of infrastructure in the city and the spread of diseases, while efforts have so far failed to reduce the level of this water.
