Clashes erupted between two armed groups in the city of Zawiya, west of the Libyan capital Tripoli, in the early hours of Thursday, injuring a child and 3 civilians.
The clashes took place between a group called “Al-Kabut” affiliated with Othman Al-Lahab, commander of the( 103) Battalion, known as “Al-Sila’a Battalion”, and members of the “Al-Madadha” in the Al-Fassi area between the island of Burguiz and the island of Rakina.
The Libyan city of Zawiya, which is home to many armed groups, has been witnessing frequent clashes, most recently last month, killing and injuring a number of people.
Areas in western Libya under the administration of the interim government headed by Abdul Hamid Dabaiba are witnessing ongoing security problems, as a result of the proliferation of many armed groups that compete among themselves for influence and money.
