The head of the municipal branch in Jaghbub in Libya, Idris Touati, confirmed that the area is witnessing a cautious calm after the clashes that took place between a family and a battalion of the “General Command” forces.
In a statement to Bawabat Al-Wasat on Saturday, Touati said that the clashes resulted in the death of the young man, Abdul Hafeez Naji Shoaib Al-Shehibi, and the injury of two others from the family, stressing that efforts are underway to calm the situation.
Tobruk security chief and tribal co-ordinator at the city’s General Command arrived in Jaghbub, accompanied by a delegation, to follow up on developments and calm the situation, Touati said.
Local sources in Jaghbub confirmed that the reason for the clashes was due to the search of a security point for a car carrying a family that was coming to offer condolences.
