The forces of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Benghazi Security Directorate managed to arrest two people after they impersonated security men, and stole a vehicle, money, and cameras from a Libyan citizen.

According to a statement issued by the Benghazi Security Directorate, a citizen’s complaint against two people on board a motor vehicle was answered, where they stopped him and claimed that they work in the Criminal Investigation Department and that his vehicle is wanted by the Public Prosecution in a specific case.

After they robbed the vehicle and a number of cameras inside the car, one of the perpetrators called the victim and demanded a ransom in exchange for the return of the stolen vehicle and equipment, claiming that this was a request from the Public Prosecution.

In the context of the immediate measures, the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Benghazi Security Directorate issued instructions for search and investigation, where the two suspects were ambushed in a shop selling mobile phones.

After the success of the ambush, the defendants were caught with the stolen money, a quantity of hashish and tablets of hallucinogenic pills.

The two defendants confessed to their involvement in criminal operations, after interrogation, where they were referred to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary measures against them, and it was found that the first is called A.A.M., born in 1989, and the second named A.M.A., born in 1978.
