An official delegation from the United States, headed by the US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, discussed with the Commander of the General Command of the Libyan Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, ways to advance the political process towards elections and the efforts of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batelli in this regard.
Haftar received in his office at the General Command headquarters in the Al-Rajma area in Benghazi, along with Norland, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Joshua Harris, and Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent. The Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aguila Saleh, stressed that any attempts to open new dialogues and agreements will return the country to square one, stressing that Libya needs to form a unified government to supervise the organization of elections, during his meeting with a US delegation headed by the US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland.
