A report revealed that the interim Government of National Unity in Libya promised to respond to messages sent by the Lebanese authorities regarding the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr, in which they requested information about 13 political and security figures from the regime of Muammar Gaddafi.

The recent visit of an official delegation from Libya to Beirut sparked the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine in 1978, as well as the arrest of Hannibal Gaddafi, son of former President Muammar Gaddafi.

Hannibal was a political refugee in Syria before being lured to Lebanon by a group led by former MP Hassan Yacoub, whose father, Sheikh Mohammed Yaacoub, disappeared with Sadr.

The Lebanese judicial investigator charges Hannibal with withholding information he knew about the fate of al-Sadr and his two companions, and his direct responsibility for political prisons, including the prison where Imam al-Sadr was detained.
