Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Moscow and Tunisia intend to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental committee for cooperation between the two countries in the first half of 2024 and will discuss an agreement on the free trade area.
“In the first quarter or at the beginning of the second quarter (of next year), a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for Russian-Tunisian Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation will be held, and at the meeting, certainly, if the interest of Tunisian friends continues, this topic (the conclusion of a free trade agreement) will be discussed,” Lavrov said at a press conference on Thursday, following his visit to Tunisia, in response to a question about the preparation for the establishment of a free trade agreement between Russia and Tunisia.
