Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov received in Moscow on Monday a Libyan delegation, according to what was published by the Libyan “Our Government” platform.
The delegation included Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi and Taher Al-Baour in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, accompanied by Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad.
During the meeting, Lavrov stressed his country’s commitment to the unity and stability of Libya, and the two sides agreed to activate joint committees and strengthen bilateral relations.
The meeting also discussed a number of issues of common interest between the two sides, especially related to cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, and security.
Earlier in the day, Russian Ambassador to Libya Aydar Aganin said any military presence in eastern and southern Libya was coordinated with the House of Representatives and Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
“Russia as a country did not participate in the war on Tripoli, and promoting this through Wagner does not clarify the truth. As for the link between Wagner and the Russian state, they are attempts by Western countries, so that they say that the Russians participated in the war.”
