On Saturday, the African Airlines commenced its first flight from Sebha International Airport in southern Libya to Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria, carrying 121 passengers.

The airline, which provides air connectivity in the region, also announced the launch of new flights to Cairo International Airport starting next Thursday.

The company stated that the Civil Aviation Authority and the Airports Authority conducted an inspection visit to Sebha Airport from June 8 to June 11.

The visit included checking the control tower, the safety of the outer fence, the lighting of runways and taxiways, as well as the fuel supply station and ensuring compliance with international safety standards.

African Airlines, which was established in April 2001 and is headquartered in Tripoli, is wholly owned by the Libyan government. It operates both domestic and international flights, with its network covering many cities across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. It operates alongside Libyan Airlines as a major carrier in Libya.
