The “Sudanese Youth Network” has launched a new campaign titled “Ceasefire,” coinciding with the approaching date of the Geneva negotiations on August 12.
The campaign aims to mobilize broad support to stop the ongoing war in Sudan and unify the voices of civilians demanding peace.
The network confirmed that the campaign targets the warring parties, and calls on Sudanese civil society, youth and women’s groups, media professionals, and politicians to participate in it.
The campaign seeks to achieve several goals, including ensuring an immediate ceasefire, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, protecting civilians, and paving the way for a political process that achieves sustainable peace in the country.
The campaign stressed the importance of a ceasefire as a first step to save the lives of Sudanese and unite the people around a common vision to build a Sudan based on freedom, justice, and equality.
It also called on all parties opposing the war to join it, stressing that the Sudanese people are in dire need of peace, and that this peace begins with signing a ceasefire agreement in the upcoming Geneva negotiations.
It is worth noting that this campaign comes after several similar initiatives, such as the “Major Campaign for Teachers to Stop the War in Sudan” launched by the Sudanese Teachers Committee last July, and the campaign of the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate, which recently called for shedding light on the humanitarian tragedy experienced by the Sudanese.
