The Musicians and Actors Syndicates in Egypt issued a decision to suspend work permits granted to Lebanese artist Haifa Wehbe, which caused a wide uproar in artistic circles and across social media platforms.
This step comes against the backdrop of accusations that Haifa Wehbe violated contractual terms with a film production company, according to the relevant syndicates.
Haifa Wehbe responded to the decision by publishing a Quranic verse via a story on her official Instagram account that says: “Evil plotting does not encompass except its own people,” in a reference that may reflect her view of the current crisis as a plot against her.
For its part, the Musicians Syndicate, headed by Mustafa Kamel, confirmed that investigations into this case will be conducted at the syndicate’s headquarters in Cairo, noting that Khaled Al-Tahami, Haifa Wehbe’s business manager, will attend the investigation to answer questions related to the contract and the financial advance that was received.
The Lebanese artist was affected by this crisis to the point that her fans expressed their great support for her, hoping that she would quickly overcome these difficulties and return to the artistic scene with her usual activity.
At the same time, Haifa Wehbe released a new song titled “Ya Nahla,” which seemed to carry connotations about personal situations that the artist is experiencing, and she also released a duet with Akram Hosny titled “Law Kont.”
Haifa Wehbe’s work permit remains suspended until the ongoing investigations are completed, and the efforts of the two unions continue to clarify the facts and ensure compliance with Egyptian artistic and contractual laws.
It is noteworthy that Wehbe performed a concert on the North Coast of Egypt last week, and recently announced a new concert, scheduled to be held on August 23, 2024.
