The Kuwaiti Charitable Society “Tanmia” provided humanitarian aid worth $120,000 to support 1,000 Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad.

The Kuwait News Agency “KUNA” reported that the society, in cooperation with local partners, distributed food and health aid to Sudanese refugees who were displaced due to the ongoing conflict in their country.

Mohammed Al-Rashidi, Director of Humanitarian Work at the Society, said that the campaign faced many challenges, including providing the necessary protection to ensure the delivery of aid in light of the difficult conditions and the spread of conflicts.

Al-Rashidi stressed that this initiative comes within the society’s ongoing efforts to provide relief to the affected peoples, expressing his thanks to the supporters who contributed to the success of the campaign.

This aid came at a critical time, as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that more than 600,000 Sudanese, the majority of whom are women and children, have fled to Chad since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan in April 2023.

The Commission called on the international community to provide urgent support to Sudanese refugees who are suffering from deteriorating humanitarian conditions on the border with Chad.

It is noteworthy that the conflict in Sudan has left thousands dead and about 10 million displaced and refugees, which has increased fears of a large-scale humanitarian disaster in the country.
