The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury, participated in a panel discussion organized by the Al Salam Center for Studies and Crisis Management in Benghazi.
During the seminar, the participants called for exploring new horizons to create sustainable solutions that constitute a break from the failures of the past.
According to the UN mission’s media office, Khoury reiterated the readiness of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to work with the Libyan academic community and all Libyans.
She stressed that the mission’s goal is not only to address the current situation, but also to help establish an institutional system of governance that guarantees the rule of law, human rights, and equitable development for all.
Khoury held a meeting with members of the Libyan Association for Political Science, and during the meeting, the members analyzed the deep causes of the intractable Libyan crisis.
They stressed the need to establish unified institutions that uphold the principles of the rule of law, transparency and good governance, and work to meet the urgent needs of citizens.
