Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the General Command Forces, received a delegation from the Emirati company “Global Builders”, headed by Mohammed bin Ali Al-Abbar, in the city of Benghazi, to discuss several future development projects in Libya.
During the meeting, details of the implementation of the New Benghazi “Downtown” project and the Marisa Free Zone, which is expected to become the largest free zone in North Africa, were discussed.
The contracts for these projects were also signed in the presence of Saddam Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, Osama Hamad, Prime Minister of the Government assigned by the House of Representatives, in addition to the Mayor of Benghazi, Engineer Saqr Bujwari.
It is noteworthy that Mohamed Alabbar, who is known for his prominent role in the Emirati company “Emaar”, has a great influence in the field of real estate and development, as he owns prominent projects such as the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. These meetings come within the framework of joint efforts to enhance economic development in Libya and consolidate bilateral relations between the two countries.
The UAE has strong relations with eastern Libya, in line with its regional policies aimed at achieving stability in Libya and protecting its strategic interests in the region.
“Global Builders” operates in the construction sector, and has investments and projects in several countries, including Libya. The most important project supervised by the company in Libya is the construction of the “New Benghazi International Airport” in the Tika area, which is considered a major project aimed at improving the infrastructure and providing better services to the local population in the eastern region of the country.
