Kenyan Defense Force commander Francis Ogola was killed in the crash of a French-made Kenyan army military plane, Kenyan media reported on Thursday.
Kenya’s Star newspaper said the military helicopter was carrying 12 people, including military officers with the rank of general, on Thursday afternoon in Kabin, east of Maraquate, in Elgio Maraquat district.
The Kenya Air Force military helicopter, an SA 330 Puma, took off from a local primary school when it crashed and caught fire, and witnesses said it caught fire on impact.
Initial police reports said only one survivor was believed to be a photographer.
