The countries of Angola and Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) signed 14 agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation in a number of fields, including agriculture, mineral resources, oil, gas, health, scientific research, tourism, and military and technical cooperation.
In the Ivorian city of Abidjan, in the presence of the presidents of Angola, João Lourenço, and Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, the legal instruments were signed by the ministers of the relevant ministries, along with the foreign ministers of the two countries.
Yesterday, Thursday, the leaders of the two countries held “very productive” talks, according to President Alassane Ouattara, which allowed for the strengthening of bilateral relations.
He also described the signed agreements as a sign of the common will to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation, noting that an economic forum will be held today, Friday, between businessmen from both sides.
He added, “This would contribute to increasing trade and investments between the two countries,” and that “there is an interest in exchanging expertise and knowledge in the field of hydrocarbons and other fields.”
Ouattara also stressed the importance of the efforts undertaken by the Angola authorities, especially the efforts of President Lourenço to achieve peace and stability in the region.
In turn, the Angolan President stressed the importance of historical relations between the two countries and said that “there is a mutual interest in restoring the past and strengthening relations,” as he put it.
He also expressed his desire to “work every day with greater force in the areas where legal instruments have been signed and in the areas that have been identified as new spaces for potential exchange.”
