A senior Israeli official, speaking to the Israeli radio station “103 FM”, criticized Egypt’s refusal to participate in a defensive alliance aimed at repelling potential missile attacks from Iran and its allies.
The official, whose identity was not revealed by the radio station, indicated that this position reflects Egypt’s view of peace with Israel as merely a ceasefire and not a comprehensive peace.
The Israeli official stated that Egypt, despite its previous participation in US-led alliances against targets such as Saddam Hussein, is taking a different position today, adding that “I have no expectations from Egypt in this context.”
For its part, Egypt confirmed that it is continuing to make efforts to reduce escalation and reduce tension levels in the region, especially after the recent assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.
Egypt also informed Iran that it will close its airspace to any measures that may pose a threat, explaining that this step comes from the standpoint of protecting its national interests and is not a hostile step against Iran.
In this context, Egypt stressed that it will not participate in any expected military delegation to defend Israel against any attacks, stressing the importance of its commitment to a neutral approach in the ongoing tensions in the region.
