Israeli forces withdrew completely from inside and around the Shifa Medical Complex, west of Gaza City, at dawn on Monday, after a siege period of nearly two weeks.
The IDF headed south, where its camp of tanks and bulldozers is located, in the area between Sheikh Ajleen and Tel al-Hawa, according to Palestinian media.
Israeli Army Radio said the army killed at least 200 Palestinians, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and arrested more than 500 others, in addition to detaining 900 others for interrogation, out of 6,000 Palestinians trapped in the hospital during the siege on the compound.
The withdrawal follows an attack and siege by IDF forces that lasted for more than two weeks on the compound and its surroundings, resulting in hundreds of Palestinian casualties and injuries, in addition to the arrest of hundreds more.
The BBC quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the withdrawal came “suddenly”, accompanied by gunfire and shells from tanks in the direction of residential buildings surrounding the medical complex.
