Ali Khamenei’s advisor and head of the Iranian Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Kamal Kharazi, announced negotiations between Iran and Russia for the purchase of Su-35 fighter jets.
Kharazi stressed that relations between the two countries are going through a stage of military and commercial cooperation without any significant obstacles, indicating the possibility of signing a comprehensive strategic agreement with Moscow in the near future.
Kharazi gave strong responses to Western accusations alleging that Iran was supplying drones to Russia for use in the conflict in Ukraine, explaining that these accusations are baseless.
He cited the statements of the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, who also denied the validity of these allegations and described them as an innovation by the American media.
Kharazi stressed the importance of strengthening defense relations between Iran and Russia as part of ongoing efforts to enhance regional and international security.
Iran purchased 24 Su-24 fighter planes from Russia in 1997, and in 2001 Iran bought 29 Su-27 fighter planes, and in 2006 Iran bought 15 Su-25 planes, and all the planes were delivered to Iran between Years 1997 and 2009.
