UN Secretary-General António Guterres and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell expressed shock at the Nabulsi roundabout incident in Gaza.

110 Palestinians were killed during a humanitarian aid distribution on the morning of Thursday 29 March, according to Palestinian Ministry of Health statistics.

Guterres stressed that the killing of more than 100 people seeking humanitarian aid warrants an independent and effective investigation and expressed shock at the developments of the Israeli war in Gaza, calling for respect for international law.

Borrell expressed in a tweet on his X account that he was horrified by the news of a “new massacre” among civilians in Gaza, noting that these deaths are completely unacceptable, and that depriving people of food aid constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

The statements come in the context of the Israeli military’s publication of a video purporting to show crowds of residents of northern Gaza around aid trucks, which led to a stampede and running over civilians, and the army indicated that groups were shot at approaching the trucks, considering it a threat to soldiers.

In the same context, other sources confirmed that Israeli forces opened fire towards civilians in the “Nabulsi roundabout”, resulting in dozens of injuries and deaths.

The video, posted by the Israeli military, sparked widespread criticism on social media, with social media users noting that the video confirms signs of a contrived starvation policy by Israeli forces in the besieged enclave.
