UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk expressed deep concern over reports of the discovery of a mass grave in the desert on the Libyan-Tunisian border.
In his speech before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday, he stressed that his office is closely following these disturbing developments in Libya.
Turk called on the authorities to respond quickly to United Nations inquiries and conduct a comprehensive investigation into these crimes. He also condemned the widespread violations against migrants and refugees.
In a related context, the International Organization for Migration indicated that last March the bodies of at least 65 migrants were discovered in a mass grave in southwestern Libya.
